Off My Head Hats
I started making hats in 1993 by when some friends needed some hats to wear at a Triumph Spitfire Rally they were all attending in Germany.I made them 30 matching hats out of some tartan travel rugs that my mum had given me (for some reason)!!!! The friends were more than pleased but ended up selling all their hats to other Rally goers. One of them worked for The Princes Youth Business Trust and suggested I go to see them with a view to making this a business. Therefore with a £1200 loan from the wonderful Prince Charlie, my business was born!!
My hats are all Made In England and I strive to source the best quality fabrics and will never use cheap faux furs and felts, as the end product will also look cheap!
I make hats out of luxury faux furs and more recently have been doing 'Downton Abbey' styles that seem to be the most popular. I sell at the fabulous Manchester Christmas Market which is the largest Christmas Market in Europe, outside of Germany. This gives me chance to meet customers, try out new styles and get the very important feedback that is very necessary.
